Hey, sleepyheads

GLACIAL MELTWATER AT 11,000 FEET

The silence is deafening!!! Soon I will have some photos of the Wind River Range. These are three that one of my travelling companions took:

hmm..that's a really interesting socio-environmental study. Notice how Chris has moved one spot over to the left after 2 weeks in the wilderness...

Glad you made it back in time for the war, buddy....

When we were in the last couple of days in the mountains we started thinking about what would be different when we got back to civilization, and none of our predictions came true. I thought that the Rev. Billy Graham would be dead, but no, Ken Lay died instead. I was and remain shocked by the whole Hezbollah thing. It took me a while to figure out that the two Israeli soldiers were not the same ones that had been taken hostage a little before we left for Wyoming. I read that the US is going to evacuate Americans from Lebanon with a luxury cruiser guarded by a Navy boat. It seems like too easy a target.

Meanwhile, the Big Dig is coming apart at the seams. There was a really funny sounding substory to it that I did not read - "Residents Are Confident In The Strength of the Sumner and Callahan Tunnels [the only alternatives to the collapsed Ted Williams tunnel, which have been in place for decades]". It's pretty sad but true statement that older structures are more sturdy than newer and supposedly more advanced structures...what has changed? Is it the bottom line? Are there more disgruntled union workers than ever before?
